today's wonderful participants in prolonging the humor at catalano's music center are as follows:

1. Mr. Sousaphone. Bryan actually took this one, and thought it outdid my best scenario of the day (to be detailed at a later time) which it definitely didn't, but deserves recognition just the same. So, genius as he is, this guy calls up to tell Bryan that his Sousaphone bell was switched at Catalano's-- a year ago. Yes folks, that's right, when the instrument was in for repair 365 days ago, the bells were supposedly switched, not to mention that this could have happened with another rental, or during school or God only knows where else. Oh my.

2. Ms. Trumpet Without a Case. Similar to "rebel without a cause," but more likely to give Bryan Okrent a headache. So I call up this woman because her trumpet is overdue and currently exceeding summer rentals on late fees. The woman says that the instrument was returned in December. And the conversation is as follows:
Me: Returned in December? We have no record...
TWC: Yes well, we gave it to you to repair.
Me: Since December?
TWC: Yes, we dropped it off, it was NEVER fixed, they called me a bunch of times and I forgot about it.
when a repairman calls, it's to tell the customer that the instrument is done. written on the receipt in front of me was a record of the 4 times we called her with no response.
Me: You forgot?
TWC: Well, yes and no, I sent my husband to get it and then he went to the wrong music store and ended up ordering another one, so we figured you had it. You're not going to charge me, are you?
WELL DUH
Me: Um, well...we called you about 4 times.
WTC: Well, the trumpet came in without a case so, you know, it was hard to find.
who brings a trumpet in without a case, mind you? and who ACCEPTED IT to begin with?
Me: Well, we have a record that we called you and-
WTC: Well you know what, do you have a record of when I called YOU?!
Me: Uhh, yes, December 1st, the day the instrument was dropped off. You can't just forget about it and not say anything to us and expect us to keep it thinking that you returned it otherwise we will rent it out if you did return it, because, what if you wanted to come back and pick it up at a later date and we rented it out, then we wouldn't want to reconcile THAT situation so we just kept it under your name and now you have to pay the summer fee.

Make a long story short she exploded.
